Hi everyone! Danielle here again! 🙂
I’m not a big breakfast person, but I LOVE oatmeal – and Instant Pot steel cut oats! I don’t like cooking it on the stove, and I’m moving away from using the microwave, so the Instant Pot is the next best thing! I purchased Wegman’s brand Organic Steel Cut Oats at last night, and looked at the directions. 25-30 minutes on the stove, or 3-4 hours in the slow cooker. To that I said, “No way man,” and set off on an Instant Pot journey. From start to finish, these took me approximately 15 minutes (only 3 minutes of actual cook time), and they taste delightful! I added brown sugar and some dried cranberries – I’m a sucker for brown sugar and oatmeal! If you prefer the oats a little softer, they can be cooked a bit longer as well, but I find that 3 minutes is satisfactory.
If you eat a lot of oatmeal and would prefer to shop in your pj’s, Amazon has a great deal on Bob’s Red Meal Steel Cut Oats – and they come in a 4 pack! I’m all about bulk shopping! 🙂
Enjoy!! 🙂

I’m a visual person, and like picture recipes. The printable version is also below if you’d prefer! 🙂

I just ordered an insta-pot. Can I put the oats in a bowl (glass or china) and set it in the pot so I don’t have an extra container to clean?
Hi AC! You can make them right in the pot, or in another pot (pot in pot). I find that when I cook it PIP I need to add some additional time. Make sure if you use PIP that you place the dish on the trivet with the water below (and then you’d also need the water in the other dish you’d be cooking in – I’d pull back on the amount of liquid too since it won’t be in direct contact with the heat source).
How many 1/3 cup cooked servings do you think this recipe makes?
Hi Olivia! This makes about a cup, so it should be three 1/3 cup servings 🙂
Do you think this recipe could be increased to feed about 10 people? would the pot be able to handle it? I am thinking of maybe quadrupling the recipe….
Hello!!! I think it would – just be sure to use a natural release!! 🙂
I just started my OATMEAL and thought I’d check out other RECIPES while i waited. Your’s was the next recipe i checked. I wish I wpuld have used yours, and i will AFTER this! You answered all my questions i had with the 1st recipe i tried! Thank you for the pictures too. Now i know I’m doing it right. Added bonus with yours: less cooking time! I havr to cook this one for 10 minites, your’s is just 3. But that gave me time to comment on your recipe!
Hi Rachel! I’m so glad it helped!!! 🙂
